Freedom!

The following is a copy of a speech given by Ethan G. at the Tele Tubbies Commencement Ceremony in San Diego, California on May 19th, 2009.

"Greetings, Fellow Ameribabies!

I stand before you today, a free man!

A man who can come and go at his own leisure. The time was not long past, that I found myself bound by the infirmities of my infancy. It was as if, I was shackled to the floor, a prisoner in my own home. For too long I have been punished for petty crimes like whineeness and irratability. But no more my friends...no more!

During the many months of my captivity,

I longed to be free of my confines. The bars that restrained me, and the weakness within my own frail limbs...ultimately, have only made me stronger and more determined. I then knew that I could no longer hide behind a veil of secrecy!

I, like you, needed to be free!

I could no longer live in constant fear! The threat of being sent to 'the chair'...

no longer manipulates my every thought...for I AM A FREE man!

I would like to recognize, and thank, my few trusted friends on the inside. For surely without them, I would have never survived. From left to right, a heartfelt thank-you to:

Fritz, Whitie, Jack, Bear, and Flatfoot! Thank you guys!

I would be 'lion'

if I said I did not want to throw my new found freedom in the face of my captors. But I'm way too cool to stoop to such measures.

Thankfully, now I can roam the expanse of my world...create havoc...and flee the scene before anyone is the wiser!

I can reach out and touch things I could have never reached before.

It's all because of FREEDOM! I love that word!

Would you like to be free like ME? It's easy! Just learn to crawl!

It is totally awesome Dude!!!!

You can get into all kinds of stuff!

Doh!

On the brink...

Ethan is on the brink of crawling...

I sit here on the brink of crawling,
But instead, I think, I'll just start bawling.
Teetering here...on hands and knees,
Oops...I think I just went pee.

My parents watch & clap their hands,
Not sure if I'll next land or stand.
But either way, I'm moving on...
And one day soon -- I'll just be gone.

I can roll...and I can twist,
And Mommy says: 'I must be kissed'!
Yes, I'm changing very fast...
And any stage...will not long last!

So off I go...to crawl away,
In one place, I'll not long stay.
So if you want...just sit and gawk,
For one day soon...I'll start to walk!
